Level 1 ESOL Skills for Life: Reading Course in Richmond upon Thames. Classes run at Parkshot, part-time during the day, twice a week. Before you start, you'll take a short assessment to confirm this is the right level for you. The course runs over 13 weeks and focuses on reading skills in English, including skimming and scanning texts and understanding different types of written material. These are useful skills for work, study, and everyday life. Tuition and exam fees apply, though funding or an Advanced Learner Loan may be available.
Who this course is for
Do you want to improve your reading skills and gain a nationally recognised qualification? This 3-month course will help you build confidence in reading, develop skimming and scanning skills, and understand different types of texts. You'll learn from experienced teachers in a supportive, adult-only environment. Improving your English and gaining an ESOL certification is a great way to enhance your CV and demonstrate your language skills to employers.
Entry requirements
You must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date. Before you start this course you need to take Step into English to help you choose the right level of Reading course. We have courses at all levels of the Adult ESOL Curriculum from Pre-Entry (for complete beginners) and Entry Level up to Level 2. We will help you find the correct level for you before you start your course.

How you will learn
You'll learn in a classroom at Parkshot with other adult learners. Teaching is delivered face to face, twice a week in the morning or afternoon. You'll be assessed through a written exam at the end of the course. The exam is set and marked by Ascentis.

The centre will provide most materials. Parkshot will confirm anything else you need before you start.
