Teaching Assistant

Location: Leatherhead, Surrey
Pay: £110-£120 per day PAYE
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am-3:15pm
Start: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, ongoing

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Leatherhead, supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), Autism (ASD) and complex needs.

The role will involve working closely with students who may be non-verbal and require additional support with communication, learning, behaviour and their day-to-day development.

Key responsibilities

Supporting students on a 1:1 and small-group basis

Supporting children and young people with ASD and complex needs

Working with non-verbal students and helping develop communication skills

Supporting learning and classroom activities

Encouraging independence and confidence

Supporting with personal care should the medical team need assistance
Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation

Building positive relationships with students

Working alongside teachers and other support staff

Providing personal care support where required

About you

The ideal candidate will be patient, caring and resilient, with a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs.

Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Youth Worker, Childcare Worker or similar would be beneficial.

Experience supporting ASD, non-verbal students or complex needs is desirable, but we are also happy to consider candidates with strong transferable experience.

DBS

Ideally, you will already have an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.

If you do not currently have one, we can arrange and pay for a new Enhanced DBS for the successful candidate, subject to the required checks.

The role offers

£110-£120 per day PAYE

Monday-Friday, 8:45am-3:15pm
