Summary
At GCA we have a team of highly skilled Chartered Engineers to support you on your apprenticeship journey.
Over the course of the apprenticeship the apprentice will be introduced to engineering design concepts in line with the learning undertaken at university and will apply this learning to real world projects.
What you will do at work
The apprentice shall be responsible for developing drawn information (in Revit, CAD, Civil 3D drawing packages). Including Layouts, Details, Sections etc. with the assistance of engineers in the office.
They will be responsible for managing the flow and record keeping of design information – including maintaining an up to date record of GCA drawn information and incoming third party information through emails and GCA’s document management procedures.
As apprentices progress through their training they will be increasingly expected to assist junior staff in their development of basic engineering designs (e.g. Retaining wall design, foundation design, cut & fill, drainage).
The apprentice will have the opportunity to develop strong communication skills, including communicating by phone and by E-mail with other team members. We will develop them to eventually be responsible for liaising with clients, contractors and members of the wider design team on project related issues.
