You'll study the CIPD Associate Diploma in People Management, building on experience in HR roles such as recruitment, HR advisory, or change management. The course covers the strategic side of people management, preparing you to move into more senior HR positions. An interview with the course tutor is required before you enrol, and you'll need to be working at Level 2 English.

Who this course is for

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Associate Diploma in People Management is an ideal qualification to help you to further your career in HR and to gain a valuable insight into the management of people and the developing strategic role that the senior HR manager plays.

This qualification is ideal for you if you have been operating in a transactional HR role undertaking tasks such as recruitment and selection, change management or HR advisor. It is also the course for you if you wish to progress into a more senior role and already hold the Level 3 foundation qualification. You’ll expand your knowledge of HR with a combination of core units and specialist areas – helping you focus on what matters most to you.

Entry requirements

Ideally you will be working in a HR role and will have completed the Level 3 qualification in Human Resources. However, entry criteria can be discussed with the course tutor. You will be required to have an interview/informal chat with the tutor before enrolling on this course.

You will need to be working at at least level 2 English to be able to meet the academic requirement of the course.

  • You'll learn how to manage change effectively within an organisation.
  • You'll build skills in coaching, performance management, and employee relations.
  • You'll analyse data and evidence to inform HR decisions.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom-based sessions at Darlington College, combining tutor-led teaching with discussion and group work. Assessment is through written assignments and applied tasks that draw on your workplace experience. CIPD qualifications are assessed without formal exams; your work is submitted as written evidence demonstrating your understanding and practice.
