Level 3 Swedish Massage Course in Bristol. Evening swedish massage classes run at Ashley Down Centre, part-time over 25 weeks. You'll learn a wide range of techniques including gliding, kneading, friction and tapping, building the practical skills needed to work in the massage and holistic therapy industry. You'll also study anatomy and physiology, with around three hours of independent study and three hours of practice or case studies expected each week outside class. You'll need a minimum of GCSE English grade D or equivalent to enrol.

Who this course is for

Swedish massage is an ancient therapy that teaches you a wide range of massage techniques that will prepare you for industry. This will include gliding, kneading and friction and tapping, all of which work to relieve aching muscles and encouraging the flow of blood and lymph and enhancing skin tone.

Entry requirements

You will hold an minimum of English GCSE grade D or equivalent.--You will be prepared to carry out 3 Hours per week independent study for the Anatomy and Physiology exam. Also there is a requirement of 3 hours per week practice and case studies outside of your college hours.--You will be able to enrol directly if you meet the entry requirements.--

  • You'll practise gliding (effleurage) techniques to warm and relax muscle tissue.
  • You'll develop kneading (petrissage) skills to work deeper into muscles.
  • You'll apply friction techniques to target specific areas of tension.
  • You'll use tapping (tapotement) movements to stimulate circulation.
  • You'll understand how massage encourages blood and lymph flow.
  • You'll study anatomy and physiology as it applies to massage therapy.
  • You'll complete case studies to build practical, client-facing experience.

How you will learn

You'll learn through practical, hands-on sessions in the classroom at Ashley Down Centre. Assessment includes a written anatomy and physiology exam, for which you'll need to commit around three hours of independent study per week. You'll also complete practical assessments and case studies, with a further three hours of practice expected outside class each week.
