Entry requirements

The entry requirements for this course are:

  • Must have completed a level 3 Technical Certificate in Electrical Installation and be working in the Electrical industry.

What you will learn

  • You'll apply wiring systems and cable containment methods used in domestic and commercial installations.
  • You'll install electrical equipment and enclosures in buildings and structures.
  • You'll carry out inspection, testing, and commissioning of electrotechnical systems.
  • You'll interpret technical drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams.
  • You'll work to the requirements of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations).
  • You'll identify and manage health and safety responsibilities on site.
  • You'll develop the practical skills required to register as a Domestic Installer.

How you will learn

Learning is classroom based, delivered across three days a week with a mix of theory sessions and hands-on practical work. Assessment for the City and Guilds NVQ Diploma is competence-based. You'll be assessed through observed practical tasks, written assignments, and on-the-job evidence gathered from your work in the electrical industry.
