About this course

BTEC National Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care in Lancaster. Classes run at Lancaster and Morecambe College three days a week, with one day on placement and one day for home study.

The course covers core values in the course, communication in the sector, and vocational practice. You'll spend time on placement each week, putting theory into practice. In Year 1 you complete the National Foundation Diploma. In Year 2 you progress to the full Extended Diploma, equivalent to three A-Levels. The course runs over two years full-time.

You'll finish with a Pearson Edexcel BTEC National Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care at Level 3.

Who this course is for

This course is designed for 16-18 year old and will be delivered as a study programme which includes math and English where applicable and work experience. The course will include a substantial amount of careers related learning designed to support progression to the suitable next step, this could include educational trips, employability skills and employer encounters such as guest speakers.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom sessions three days a week at Lancaster and Morecambe College. One day each week is spent on placement in a care setting. The remaining day is for home study, including assignments and research. Assessment is through coursework and practical evidence gathered on placement. Maths and English are embedded in the programme where applicable.
