What you will learn
You'll learn how to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally.
You'll learn how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use an automated external defibrillator (AED).
You'll learn how to treat a casualty who is choking.
You'll learn how to control severe bleeding and manage shock.
You'll learn how to recognise and respond to a range of common medical emergencies.
You'll learn how to assess an incident scene and prioritise your response.
You'll learn how to record and report first aid incidents appropriately.
How you will learn
Learning takes place in the classroom over a single day. You'll take part in practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises, covering CPR, casualty management, and emergency response scenarios. Assessment is through observed practical skills and a short knowledge check. You need to demonstrate competence in the core practical skills to pass.
