Level 3 Education and Training Course. Study online at your own pace over around 6 months. This is an introductory education and training qualification for people who are skilled or qualified in a work-related area and want to start teaching or training others. It is sometimes called a Gateway qualification. It is not a full teaching qualification, but it is the recognised first step toward higher-level courses that will qualify you to teach. You need to be 19 or over and hold, or be working toward, a qualification at NVQ Level 3 in the subject you want to teach.
Who this course is for
This is an introductory course for people who are skilled and qualified in a work related area and want to learn to teach or train others. Known as a 'Gateway' course, it won't equip you to be a fully qualified teacher or trainer, but it is the first step to accessing higher level courses that will do so.
Entry requirements
You need to be 19 years or over. You should have achieved or be aiming to achieve a qualification at NVQ level 3 and/or have experience in the subject/skill you wish to teach.
What you will learn
You'll explore the roles and responsibilities of a teacher or trainer in the education and training sector.
You'll learn how to plan and deliver inclusive teaching and learning sessions.
You'll understand how to assess and give feedback to learners.
You'll study the principles of communication and how to use them effectively in a teaching context.
You'll examine how to create a safe, positive learning environment.
You'll develop awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusion in teaching practice.
How you will learn
You study online and work through course materials at a pace that suits you. Assessment is through written assignments and a micro-teach session, where you plan and deliver a short teaching session to demonstrate your skills. Your work is submitted online. The course covers both theory and practical application, so you will need access to a group of learners to complete the micro-teach element.
What you will need to bring
The course fee of £499 plus VAT covers all training and assessments. There may be an additional cost for materials such as books. UK Training & Development will confirm anything else you need before you start.
