About this course

Level 3 Early Years Practitioner Course. Work-based training at your workplace. You study while working in a childcare setting, applying your learning directly with babies, toddlers, and young children. The course covers child development from conception to age seven, alongside safeguarding, study skills, and professional practice. You'll complete assignments through an online platform and take part in one-to-one tutor sessions and workplace observations. The course typically takes 12 months. All applicants take an initial English and maths assessment before starting.

Who this course is for

This course is suitable for anyone aiming to work with children and young people. It's particularly useful if you are already working or volunteering in the sector in settings such as schools, youth clubs, advice centres or charities and want to develop professionally for jobs with more responsibility, supervisory or managerial duties in the future. It's a natural move for many learners from a level 2 childcare course.

Entry requirements

All applicants will be required to take an English and Mathematics initial assessment, regardless of previous qualifications.

Universities are increasingly asking for GCSEs or L2 Functional Skills as part of their entry criteria and therefore if you wish to gain admission to university, you may need to enrol on GCSE or L2 Functional Skills English and Maths course.
