About this course

Level 2 Health and Social Care (Adults) for England Course. Work-based training at your workplace. You learn while working in a health or social care role, building skills directly on the job. The course covers supporting adults with physical and emotional care, daily living needs, and health care procedures. It also meets the requirements for those on the Level 3 Health and Social Care Apprenticeship. The course runs to approximately 390 hours. Learners should have literacy and numeracy at Level 2 or equivalent.

Who this course is for

This qualification develops the knowledge and skills needed when working in a senior role with adults in health and social care environments. It covers a wide range of areas including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health care procedures. It is also a must-have for all those undertaking the Level 3 Health and Social Care Apprenticeship

All those who wish to work or are working in an unsupervised role with adults in health and social care environments.

You should be at least 16 years old. We do not set any other entry requirements but colleges or training providers may have their own guidelines.

How many credits are required to complete it?

The Diploma requires 58 credits. It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task. You need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.Senior Care Support Workers in Residential Settings, Senior Healthcare Assistants in Community, Primary Care and Acute Health Environments, Senior Care Support Workers in Domiciliary Services, Supported Living or Day Services

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements however learners should have a minimum of level two in literacy and numeracy or equivalent. The qualification is suitable for learners of 16 years of age and above.

This is work-based learning. You build your skills and knowledge through your day-to-day role in a health or social care setting. Assessment is carried out in the workplace, drawing on real tasks and responsibilities. You'll build a portfolio of evidence showing your competence across the qualification's units. An assessor will observe your practice and review your evidence as you progress.
