About this course

Level 2 Counselling Concepts Course in Redhill. Evening counselling concepts classes run at East Surrey College on Tuesday evenings, from 17:30 to 21:00. The course runs over 12 weeks, making it straightforward to fit around work or other commitments. You'll explore what counselling is, develop listening and empathy skills, and practise using counselling skills in helping interactions. There's a strong focus on experiential learning through skills practice, alongside independent reading and written work. To join, you'll need GCSE English at grade 4 or above (or equivalent) and will attend an interview.

How you will learn

Learning is experiential, with a strong emphasis on skills practice in the classroom. You'll also complete independent study outside of class, including reading core textbooks. The total qualification time is 50 hours, of which 30 hours is guided learning. Assessment includes written work that demonstrates your understanding of counselling concepts and your development of communication skills.
