What you will learn
You'll learn to lay bricks and blocks to line, level, and plumb.
You'll practise constructing cavity walls and solid walls.
You'll work with mortar, understanding mix ratios and application.
You'll build corners, piers, and openings accurately.
You'll follow health and safety requirements on construction sites.
You'll read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
You'll understand the properties and uses of common building materials.
How you will learn
You'll learn through practical, hands-on sessions in a workshop environment alongside classroom-based theory. Assessment is through a combination of practical tasks and knowledge-based tests. You'll be assessed on your ability to carry out bricklaying operations to industry standards. Both your practical skills and your understanding of underpinning knowledge are assessed throughout the course.
