Who this course is for

This one-year course is the first step into developing a career in the health and social care sector which has thousands of job vacancies across a range of areas. It will develop your knowledge, skills and confidence and prepare you for further study at Level 2. Health and social care is about providing physical, emotional and social support to help people live their lives. For various reasons, some people need support to develop and maintain their independence, dignity and control, and manage their health conditions. This qualification will develop knowledge and awareness of the types of provision in the Health, Social Care and Children�s and Young People�s sectors. It includes the roles played by workers, from principles and values through to safeguarding and person centred care. You will complete three days at college studying the course per week whilst developing practical skills in the simulation suite, employability skills and create activities for health and social care settings. We have strong links to local employers and there will be work experience opportunities available, preparing you for further study and employment. Our courses are delivered by experienced professionals and lecturers, who draw upon their careers to provide you with the support and guidance you need.
