About this course

Level 1 Entry to the Uniformed Services Course in Blackpool. Classes run at Bispham Campus, full-time during the day. Students aged 18 or under pay no course fees. If you're 19 to 23 years old, fees may be waived depending on your circumstances.

The course gives you a broad introduction to the uniformed public services. You'll explore careers in the police, fire service, prison service, and armed forces. Units cover teamwork, fitness, citizenship, and the structure of different services. You'll also look at volunteering opportunities that build practical workplace skills. The course runs for one year.

You'll finish with an NCFE Level 1 Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services.

Who this course is for

The Uniformed Protective Services and Sport - Level 1 is an entry-level course for 16 - 18 year olds who are considering a career in Public Services or Sport. The purpose of the course is to give students an overview of the sector and to allow them to investigate the various career paths available within them. Students will have the opportunity to explore volunteering roles which offer transferable workplace skills and could help them secure a permanent role in the future thanks to the experience this gives them. They will also learn the skills required to conduct a successful recruitment interview as well as gaining an understanding of the personal commitment and fitness required to undertake a variety of roles within both sectors. Key skills and qualities required in all these professions will also be examined including team work, communication, self discipline, time management, navigation and drill.
