Level 1 British Sign Language Course in Torquay. Evening british sign language classes run at Centre for Health & Care Professions, so you can fit study around work or other commitments. You'll develop basic conversational skills in BSL, covering vocabulary, grammar, and receptive skills across a range of everyday themes. The course also builds your understanding of deaf awareness, deaf community, and deaf culture. Classes run part-time over 6 months. You'll leave with a level 1 british sign language qualification.
Who this course is for
This course will help you develop basic conversational skills in British Sign Language (BSL). You will gain an understanding of deaf awareness, community, and culture. Throughout the course, you will build confidence in both BSL production and receptive skills across a variety of themes. Each session introduces new vocabulary which you will then use to develop and extend conversations. How you will learn
Classes are held in person at the centre on evenings. Each session introduces new vocabulary and grammar, which you then use in practice conversations. You'll work on both producing BSL and understanding it when signed to you. Vocabulary and grammar are revisited regularly across the course to build fluency.
