About this course

GCSE English Language Course in Oxford. Classes run at Blackbird Leys, full-time during the day. The course runs over one year and covers reading, writing, spoken language, and the analysis of a range of texts. A GCSE English Language qualification is recognised by employers and colleges across the UK as evidence of strong literacy skills. For bricklaying and other construction programmes at Blackbird Leys, you will need GCSE English Language at grade 3 or above as part of your entry requirements.

Who this course is for

PLEASE NOTE: This course is delivered at our Blackbird Leys Technology Campus. The Bricklaying Level 2 study programme builds on the skills and knowledge you will have learned at Level 1, advancing onto bigger practical projects and more advanced theory. The course ranges from health and safety to mixing and bedding, walling details and ground work. This programme combines core employability skills with a broad understanding of bricklaying. You will be introduced to core bricklaying skills such as measuring, estimating, drawing out plans, and laying bricks and blocks to build brickwork structures. On this programme you will also learn the attributes, values, skills and attitudes for working in the construction industry, with a specialist focus on bricklaying. The programme is designed to increase your employability and prepare you for progression into a bricklaying apprenticeship. The course blends practical workshop skills and activities with underpinning knowledge that is delivered in the classroom..
