About this course

Free Teaching Assistant Level 3 Course. Work-based training at your workplace. You train while working in a school, putting your learning into practice from day one. You'll need to be employed in a school setting for at least six hours a week to join. The course covers how pupils learn, supporting assessment, safeguarding, equality and diversity, and embedding technology in the classroom. It takes 18 months to complete. Who this course is for

Teaching Assistants work in Primary, Special and Secondary education across all age ranges.

The primary role of the Teaching Assistant is to support the class teacher to enhance pupils’ learning either in groups or individually, ensuring pupils understand the work set, know their learning objectives and stay on task in order to make progress.

You will be a positive role models, take part in team meetings; contribute to planning and class activities.

You will learn the theory and show the skills and behaviours required to carry out this role,

promoting self-belief, social inclusion and a high self-esteem. It is an active role supporting the learner to access the curriculum.

How you will learn

You learn on the job, in your school. Assessment is through regular formative assessment sessions and a portfolio you build over the 18 months. Your portfolio demonstrates your learning and development activities and how you apply them in the workplace. Enrolment is roll on roll off, so you can start throughout the year.
