About this course

Free Teaching Assistant Level 2 Course in Liverpool. Classes run at The Learning Exchange, with daytime sessions designed to fit around other commitments. You'll build knowledge across children and young people's development, communication, and professional relationships in school settings. The course is suited to anyone working or volunteering in a role that supports pupils' learning. You'll need at least a Grade D/3 in GCSE English, Functional Skills Level 1 English, or ESOL Level 2 Speaking and Listening to enrol. The course runs over one year part-time.

Who this course is for

This adult qualification will enable you to develop the knowledge and skills needed when Supporting Teaching and Learning in Primary or Secondary Schools. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development and communication and professional relationships. This course is suitable for anyone who is working or volunteering in a role that supports pupils’ learning. This course is assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence and written assignments. It will be an advantage if you are already working or volunteering before you start this course. However, if you are not we will help you find a relevant work placement. The course is College based for 1 day a week for an academic year and 280 hours of work related placement.

Entry requirements

For this course you will need at least a Grade D / 3 in English or a Functional Skills Level 1 English. Or ESOL Level 2 Speaking and Listening. Relevant work experience will also be considered on application. How you will learn

You'll be assessed by a tutor or assessor using a range of methods. Classes are classroom based and run part-time during the day at The Learning Exchange. Assessment draws on your knowledge and, where applicable, your experience in a school or volunteering setting. Your tutor will guide you through each area of the qualification over the course of the year.

The centre will provide most materials. The Learning Exchange will confirm anything else you need before you start.
