About this course

Free Teaching Assistant Course Level 1. Study online at your own pace, fitting learning around your life.

The course runs over 8 weeks and covers what it means to work in a school setting. You'll explore how schools are organised, the role of support staff, and how to help pupils learn. It suits people thinking about school-based work for the first time, including those returning to learning or studying alongside other commitments.

You'll finish with an NCFE Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Schools.

Who this course is for

This qualification is aimed at a range of learners who are thinking of working in a school setting including: young people, mature learners, learners with special educational needs or where English is an additional language.

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

How you will learn

You'll study online, working through course materials at your own pace. Assessment is through written assignments and activities completed online. You submit your work digitally and receive feedback from a tutor. No exams are required.
