There are two occupational specialisms within the qualification, which are: Early Years Educator, and Assisting Teaching, both of which will consist of both classroom-based and practical learning.
You will study and learn all the key aspects of child development and how to support children's development. You will learn about the importance of health and wellbeing for children, how to support equality and promote diversity, how to work with families and professionals and how to support children with special educational needs and disability. As part of the course, you will undertake 750 hours of placement in an early years setting. This will enable you to become confident in your work with children and will support progression to higher education as you will gain key skills from your placement experiences, which is valued by universities.
