About this course

Free Level 4 End-Point Assessment for ST0088 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner Course. Work-based training at your workplace. You work directly with children, young people, and families, supporting them to achieve positive and sustainable change. The role involves assessing complex needs, agreeing interventions, and making referrals. You'll build and demonstrate skills over 24 months while working in a relevant role, with your employer supporting your development throughout. The end-point assessment confirms you've met the full standard for the apprenticeship.

Who this course is for

As a practitioner you will be working with children, young people and families, including carers, to achieve positive and sustainable change in their lives. You will demonstrate a passion to care for, and about children, young people and families. You will be skilled in recognising and assessing the complex needs that children, young people, and families often present. You will agree with the child, young person or family any specific interventions or referrals. Your approach will be one of respectful curiosity that challenges and supports children, young people, and families to achieve their potential and stay safe. You will work alongside other professionals and organisations to share the responsibility for improving outcomes.

Each piece of work with a child or family will be different and you will exercise judgement on a range of evidence-based approaches to inform your practice. You will regularly evaluate the effectiveness of your methods and actions. Regular supervision with an experienced practitioner will encourage reflection on your practice.

At the end of the apprenticeship the high quality of your practice will be making a real difference to those that you work with.

What you will learn

  • You'll assess the complex needs of children, young people, and families.
  • You'll agree appropriate interventions or referrals with the child, young person, or family.
  • You'll apply a respectful, person-centred approach in your practice.
  • You'll demonstrate professional judgement when working with vulnerable individuals.
  • You'll work collaboratively with other services and agencies to support positive outcomes.
  • You'll recognise safeguarding concerns and respond appropriately.
  • You'll evidence your competence across the full ST0088 apprenticeship standard.

How you will learn

This is an end-point assessment, not a taught course. You learn on the job throughout your apprenticeship. The end-point assessment takes place at the end of your programme and tests whether you've met the ST0088 standard. Assessment is conducted by TQUK as the end-point assessment organisation. Your employer and training provider support your development in the lead-up to gateway and assessment.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. The Vocational Academy will confirm anything else you need before you start.
