You'll build the knowledge and practical understanding needed to move into a range of roles across the sport sector.

An introduction to the sector for learners looking to build a career in sport, within one of its occupational areas. These areas include careers in exercise and fitness, coaching, leadership and sports development.
What you will learn
You'll explore the science behind exercise, fitness, and physical performance.
You'll study coaching methods and how to plan and deliver sports sessions.
You'll develop your understanding of leadership in sport and physical activity settings.
You'll examine how sports development works at community and organisational level.
You'll learn about anatomy, physiology, and how the body responds to exercise.

How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom sessions, practical activities, and coursework assignments. Assessment is mainly through unit-based assignments that you complete throughout the two years. Some units may include practical assessments where you demonstrate coaching or leadership skills. There are no formal written exams for most units. Your work is assessed against set criteria, and you build up a portfolio of evidence as you progress through the course.
