Free Level 3 Sport Course in Castleford. Classes run full-time at Brigshaw High School, five days a week during the day. The course runs over two years. You'll study anatomy and physiology, sports coaching, elite performance training, fitness testing, and programme design. Two units cover practical sport. Entry requirements include a grade 4 or above in GCSE PE or a pass in VCERT Health and Fitness Level 2, plus a grade 5 in both English and Maths. The core units cover anatomy and physiology of sports performance, they look closer at sports coaching and training of elite sports performers including specialist fitness testing, designing training programmes and developing talent. Two of the units will cover the practical aspects of sport. The specialist units cover more issues that are topical and provide you with an insight into some of the more varied sports careers.

Enrichment opportunities include Sports Leader Level 3, trips to universities, St Georges Park, first aid qualifications and the opportunity to gain National Governing Body awards.

Entry requirements

If you have studied GCSE PE you should have ideally achieved a 4 grade or at least a pass in VCERT Health and Fitness Level 2. You should also have achieved a 5 in both English and Maths.
