What you will learn
You'll prepare and fix structural timber components, including floors, roofs, and stud walls.
You'll install doors, door frames, window frames, and associated ironmongery.
You'll work with a range of hand tools and power tools safely and accurately.
You'll read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
You'll carry out repair and maintenance tasks on timber building components.
You'll apply health and safety practices relevant to construction sites.
You'll understand the properties and correct use of timber and timber-based materials.
How you will learn
You'll learn through practical, hands-on sessions in a workshop environment alongside classroom-based study. Assessment combines practical tasks, where you demonstrate carpentry skills directly, with knowledge-based assessments. You'll build a portfolio of evidence showing your competence across the units. Assessment is set by City and Guilds.
