About this course

Level 3 Performing Arts Course in King's Lynn. Classes run at The College of West Anglia, full-time during the day over two years. If you are 19 or over, fees may apply, though an Advanced Learner Loan or free funding may be available depending on your circumstances.

The course offers two pathways: Acting or Musical Theatre. You'll train in performance technique, stagecraft, choreography, vocal skills, and directing. The Musical Theatre pathway includes dance, singing, and live productions. The Acting pathway covers acting methods, directing, and practical stagecraft. Both pathways involve planning and performing in front of live audiences.

You'll finish with a Pearson Edexcel BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts at Level 3.

Who this course is for

If you have a keen interest in pursuing a career in performing arts, this course will help develop your creative skills through a choice of Acting, Dance or Musical Theatre with an introduction to backstage roles.

Entry requirements

You will need:

5 or more GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or higher, including English, Maths and Drama

Or:

A relevant Level 2 qualification (Merit or above) Either English or Maths at Grade 4 (C) or higher

If you are aged 19 or older, relevant industry experience may be accepted.

You will be invited to an interview and audition to help us ensure the course is right for you.

What you will learn

  • You'll study vocal training, including singing technique and learning lyrics.
  • You'll learn choreography and physical performance methods.
  • You'll explore directing, staging, lighting, and costume.

  • You'll gain an introduction to backstage roles and production management.

How you will learn

Learning is practical and studio-based, using professionally equipped dance studios and a theatre. You'll take part in technique classes covering singing, dance, and acting. Assessment includes live performances, independent project work, and practical and theoretical assignments. You'll plan, research, and prepare productions both during and outside college hours. Evening performances take place three times a year.
