Who this course is for

The Pearson Level 3 Alternative Academic Qualification BTEC National in Medical Science Extended Certificate enables students to study the principles and applications of medical science through three mandatory units, and further optional unit. Students will also learn practical and investigation skills that build on this fundamental knowledge. The qualification is designed to be taken alongside A levels as part of a study programme and can link to learning in A level subjects such as Sport and Physical Activity, Sociology, Chemistry and Psychology. It is intended for students that wish to progress into higher education as a pathway to employment.

Entry requirements

Our entry requirements are five grades awarded 9 - 5 at GCSE/L2 merit or above at BTEC/CTEC equivalent including a minimum of GCSE Grades 4 or above in English & Maths. In addition, some subjects require a GCSE Grade 6 or above in specific entry requirements (see pages 12 and 13). For the A level subjects a level 2 BTEC/CTEC Merit counts as an equivalent GCSE Grade 5.
