About this course

Level 3 Makeup Artistry Course in Manchester. Classes run at Any Driver Manchester, part-time during the day over 18 weeks. This course is funded through an Advanced Learner Loan.

The course covers a wide range of makeup artistry skills. You'll learn client consultation and makeup application, media makeup including small prosthetic pieces, fashion and photographic makeup, camouflage makeup, and face and body art. There's also the opportunity to develop skills in airbrush makeup and the styling and fitting of wigs and hairpieces.

You'll finish with a VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Make-Up Artistry.

Who this course is for

The VTCT Skills Level 3 Diploma in Make-up Artistry will enable you to work as a professional make-up artist.

You will gain skills and knowledge in instructing clients on make-up application, media make-up including applying small ready-made prosthetic pieces, fashion and photographic make-up, camouflage make-up, face and body art.

You will also have the opportunity to gain skills in airbrush make-up, styling and fitting head and facial postiche (wigs and hairpieces) or Mendhi skin decoration.

Entry requirements

There are no formal prerequisite qualifications that you must have prior to undertaking this qualification.

  • You'll develop skills in media makeup, including applying small ready-made prosthetic pieces.
  • You'll practise fashion and photographic makeup techniques.
  • You'll learn camouflage makeup to cover skin conditions and scarring.
  • You'll create face and body art designs.
  • You'll gain skills in airbrush makeup application.
  • You'll learn to style and fit wigs and hairpieces (postiche).

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom-based sessions with practical, hands-on work. Assessment is through a combination of practical demonstrations and portfolio evidence. You'll build a portfolio of your work throughout the course to show the skills you've developed.
