About this course

Free Level 3 Information Technology Course in Yarm. Classes run full-time at Conyers School over two years.

IT covers how hardware and software work together, how data is managed, and how technology supports business and communication. You'll study networking, programming, systems, and digital project work. The Pearson Edexcel BTEC National in Information Technology is well matched to roles in tech support, web development, and software.

You'll need five or more grade 4s at GCSE to join. You'll finish with a Pearson Edexcel BTEC National Extended Certificate in Information Technology at Level 3.

Who this course is for

What is Information Technology (IT)? IT is the study of the systems that are used to manage and share information personally socially and in business. For example, it is the relationship between the hardware and software that form an IT system, managing and processing data to support business and using IT to communicate and share information. Why study it? The IT sector is forecast as one of the main sectors for future job creation in the Tees Valley. In addition there is a national shortage of higher level IT skills. A particular shortage exists in people combining IT skills with Business and/or Creative skills. The study of creating IT systems to manage and share information, alongside other fields of study, will enable you to progress to a wide range of higher education courses, apprenticeships and employment not necessarily in IT.
