Free Level 3 IB Chemistry Higher Level Course in Broadstairs. Classes run at Dane Court Grammar School, full-time during the day over two years. This IB Chemistry Higher Level qualification covers modern chemistry and its applications, including medicine, and builds the knowledge and skills needed for university-level study. It suits those planning to go on to chemistry, medicine, veterinary medicine, biological science, biochemistry, or environmental science at university. To apply, you'll need at least 8 GCSE passes, with 6 at grade 6 and 2 at grade 5.
Who this course is for
This course is an introduction to modern Chemistry and its uses, for example in medicine. At Higher Level it teaches skills and concepts that will be needed for university-level study of Chemistry and related subjects. (Chemistry is important for many other courses in higher education, such as medicine, veterinary medicine, biological science, biochemistry and environmental science). If a student is to take two Science subjects, the Chemistry Department would recommend that both of them are taken at Higher Level. However many students will not take Chemistry any further, so at both Higher and Standard Level the course aims to provide an understanding of how chemical ideas can be used to explain the properties of the materials around us, and how new materials can be made, as well as aiming to develop skills in solving both qualitative and quantitative problems.
