Who this course is for

The purpose and aim of the IMI electric/hybrid vehicle qualification is to instruct individuals from the retail automotive industry and the public service sector (for example, members of the emergency services who may attend an accident involving an electric/hybrid vehicle) in the maintenance, service, and/or handling of electric/hybrid vehicles. With many automotive manufacturers producing hybrid or electric vehicles as part of their product range, there is a requirement for technicians to be able to repair and maintain cars with high voltage propulsion systems. Awareness of the dangers involved and the ability to work safely is a key component in being able to maintain this style of vehicle.

Entry requirements

Learners will already hold a Level 3 qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair which will need to be presented prior to starting the training.

Although not mandatory, it is also highly recommended that learners will have 3 A*-C grade GCSEs in Mathematics, English and a Science.
