About this course

Free Level 3 Criminology Course in Farnborough. Classes run at The Sixth Form College Farnborough, full-time over two years.

The course covers four units across the two years. In year one, you study how crime is perceived and reported, and the theories behind why people commit crime. In year two, you follow the criminal justice process from crime scene to courtroom, and examine how punishment and social control shape criminal justice policy. Lessons include teacher-led sessions, case studies, independent research, and class discussion. Assessment is 100% by exam, with no coursework.

The course is equivalent to a full A Level and leads to a WJEC Diploma in Criminology.

Entry requirements

To access vocational courses, students would generally achieve grade 4s (or higher) in their GCSES.

You should have at least a grade 4 in at least one science.

You should have at least a grade 4 in GCSE English language.

Ideally you should have a grade 4 in GCSE maths.

A grade 4 is desirable in another essay based subject, for example, history.

In lessons, you'll take part in teacher-led sessions using videos, PowerPoints, and case studies. You'll also carry out independent research, take notes, and contribute to class discussions.
