About this course

Level 3 Criminology Course in Eastbourne. Classes run at East Sussex College Eastbourne Campus, full-time over two years. You'll need a GCSE grade 4 in English Language to enrol. The course covers why crime happens, how society responds to it, and how the criminal justice system works from crime scene to courtroom. You'll study units on criminological theories, changing awareness of crime, and crime and punishment. Many students go on to university or into roles in the criminal justice sector.

Who this course is for

Not all types of crime are alike. What different types of crime take place in our society? How do we decide what behaviour is criminal? An understanding of criminology is relevant to many job roles within the criminal justice sector, including police officers, probation and prison officers, and social workers. With their critical thinking, analytical and communication skills, criminology graduates are also attractive to employers outside the criminal justice sector in areas such as social research and politics.
