About this course

Free Level 3 Creative Media Course in Manchester. Classes run at The Manchester College City Campus, full-time during the day.

The course covers graphic design, print and digital design, branding, motion graphics, UX design, and social media campaigns. You'll work on live industry briefs and complete a work placement of at least 35 hours. There are no formal exams. Assessment is through portfolios, written reports, blogs, sketchbooks, image creation, and interviews. The course takes one year to complete.

You'll finish with a University of the Arts London Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology at Level 3.

Who this course is for

This course has been co-developed and designed with our industry partners and is one of our Industry Excellence Academy programmes. This means that you will be working with industry specialists including Creative Cow, giving you consistent opportunities to learn the skills required to work in the creative and digital sector.

Creative Cow are an independent creative agency based in The Sharp Project, and during your time on the course you will have the opportunity to be exposed to a large range live briefs and projects that reflect the work that the industry is working on right now.

Through this course you will learn skills to help you specialise in graphic design and communication, including areas like print design, digital design, branding, motion graphics, UX design & social media campaigns. We've put employment-focused skills at the heart of the course so you can confidently apply for creative and production jobs straight after leaving College.

You’ll undertake employability sessions as part of your programme of study and work towards increasing your soft skills in order to make you more employable. You will also be required to complete a work placement of at least 35 hours and will have the opportunity to interview for the extended work placement of 315 hours. This could see you working with Creative Cow or with one of our other employer partners.

How you will learn

You'll learn through studio-based classes and industry projects. Assessment is through written reports, blogs and diaries, sketchbooks, portfolio development, image creation, design solutions, audio-visual recordings, and one-to-one feedback and interviews. There are no formal examinations. You'll also take part in employability sessions and complete a work placement of at least 35 hours.
