The role of the community interpreter is becoming increasingly important in our diverse communities. This Level 3 one-year course is ideal for a range of learners, including those who have an interest in the role of an interpreter, those who already have experience in this area and wish to further develop their skills, and those who wish to acquire formal qualifications to enable them to move on to higher qualifications. This course is considered the minimum requirement for accepting paid assignments in the UK.

Entry requirements

To satisfy entry requirements for this qualification, you will need complete an initial assessment which includes one task with a text in your native/first language that has to be translated into English. The remaining tasks assess your English language skill

How you will learn

Classes are delivered face-to-face at the college on weekday evenings. Assessment includes a practical translation task from your first language into English, completed as part of the initial assessment and throughout the course. You'll be assessed on your interpreting accuracy, professional conduct, and English language skills. Assessment methods follow the Ascentis specification for the Certificate in Community Interpreting.
