About this course

Free Level 3 BTEC National Extended Certificate in Sport Course in Stone. Classes run at Alleyne's Academy, full-time over two years.

This Level 3 BTEC sport qualification covers sport science, anatomy and physiology, coaching, fitness training, and sports performance. You'll study both the practical and academic sides of sport. The course is equivalent to one A level and sits alongside other Level 3 qualifications. You'll need five GCSEs at grades 4 to 9, including English and maths, to join.

You'll finish with a Pearson Edexcel BTEC National Extended Certificate in Sport.

Who this course is for

If you are intending to pursue health, fitness or sports-related occupations in the future such as recreation management, sports development, coaching, instructing or teaching, this course is for you. It allows you to explore sport both as a performer and academically and gives you the opportunity to study a work related qualification alongside other level 3 courses such as A levels or other BTEC qualifications. The equivalent of 1 A level, it will also give you transferable skills such as teamwork, leadership and resilience that are useful for a variety of careers and higher education courses.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom lessons, practical sessions, and coursework assignments. Some units are assessed through internal assignments marked by your tutors. Others are assessed through external exams or tasks set by Pearson Edexcel. You'll build a portfolio of work across the two years. Practical sport sessions support the theory you cover in class.
