Who this course is for

Aimed at School Leavers. The course is a modular programme, offering the opportunity of an in depth study into the fashion and textile industry. Students will be instructed in many aspects of the fashion industry including: illustration, design techniques and dressmaking skills. They will also develop a range of skills including Styling, Marketing, basic pattern cutting and garment construction as they expand their knowledge base.Optional units allow students to also undertake textile design and experimentation. Assignments are varied and creative covering Natural forms, club wear, historical influences, creative conceptions and 20th century art movements and are completed using traditional and digital techniques.All UAL students will complete a diagnostic first semester to include general arts skills e.g. drawing and painting. Alongside the core fashion units they will study and develop skills in Design Principles; History of Art & Design (including studies of Fashion Designers); Painting and Drawing and the Use of Computers in Art & Design.

Your GCSE results will determine the level you start at:

Level 3 - Five or more GCSEs at grade 9-4 including English Language and Maths

Level 2 - Four or more GCSEs at grade 9-3 including English Language and Maths

Level 1 - Four or more GCSEs at grade 9-2 including English Language and Maths
