About this course

Free BTEC National Extended Diploma in Applied Science in Middlesex. Classes run at Ark Academy Wembley, full-time over two years.

The course covers biology, chemistry, and physics. You'll build practical lab skills alongside scientific knowledge. Units develop the professional skills that employers and universities look for. To join, you'll need at least two Grade 4s and three Grade 5s at GCSE. This must include at least a Grade 4 in English Literature and Maths, and a 5-4 in Trilogy Science.

You'll finish with a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science.

It is a great option for pupils who aim to have a career in science, however since the course offers so many other skills it can also be a stepping stone into other careers. The course is focussed on not just allowing pupils to learn about all three sciences , but also gain practical and professional skills that will prepare them for any future pathway they choose, whether that be university, an apprenticeship or straight into employment.

Entry requirements

2 Grade 4 and 3 Grade 5 in GCSE, including at least a grade 4 in English Literature and Maths. You must have also achieved at least a 5-4 in Trilogy science.
