Who this course is for

This course is ideally suited to those of you who are already working in a healthcare environment, and taking this course can help tackle the outbreak of infection in hospitals and healthcare settings by helping you understand the causes and spread of infection and how you can help to control it. Hospital-based infections affect one in ten of all patients, and approximately 5,000 patients die as a result of infection each year. These infections are difficult to treat and can complicate any other illnesses, thats why its so vital that there are trained staff with the knowledge and skills to combat these outbreaks. With over 4 million people currently living with diabetes in the UK alone, and with that figure expected to rise to 6 million by the year 2031, it is vital that we all learn how our lifestyles and diets can be adapted to minimise the risk of contracting diabetes, and how we can monitor and manage the condition when it does occur. The nationally-recognised Level 2 Certificate in Understanding the Care and Management of diabetes is not just aimed at those of you who are looking for a career in the healthcare industry, or are already working in the care sector, it is also a fantastic course for those of you whose lives are personally affected by diabetes in one way or another. This course will help you to understand the different types of diabetes, and how the condition can be monitored and controlled. You will gain valuable knowledge in the prevention of Type 2 diabetes through lifestyle changes and what early intervention steps you can take, and it will teach you about initial care through to treatment and management of the condition. This is an online course taught over 4-8 weeks, so it offers you the flexibility to fit your studies around your existing work, training, or home-life commitments.
