Free Level 2 Site Carpentry Course in Birkenhead. Classes run at Wirral Waters, daytime, with flexible study over one year. The course is funded by the government for adults who don't already hold a full Level 3 qualification. You'll develop the practical skills and knowledge needed to work in the carpentry and joinery trade, training in a simulated site environment. To join, you'll need four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including Maths at grade 4 and English at grade 3. A beginner-level carpentry qualification plus those GCSE grades (or Functional Skills Level 1 English) is also accepted.

Who this course is for

The Carpentry and Joinery Level 2 Diploma is designed to develop the skills and knowledge of people, enabling them to work in the industry in their chosen craft. It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions, and the test(s) are based on the student showing what they can do as an individual through the completion of all the requirement of the qualification.

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSE's at Grade 3 or above. This must include Maths GCSE at grade 4 and English GCSE at grade 3 or above. If you have a beginner/Introductory qualification in the subject you want to study and a Maths GCSE at grade 4 and English GCSE at Grade 3 (or Functional Skill level 1) you can study at this level. How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom-based sessions and hands-on practical work in a simulated training environment. Assessment is based on individual performance, with you completing all the requirements of the qualification to show what you can do. There are set tests and practical tasks throughout the course. Teaching takes place at Wirral Waters during daytime sessions.
