You'll learn how to set out and install first-fix carpentry, including floor joists and stud partitions.
You'll learn how to fit second-fix carpentry such as doors, skirting boards, and architraves.
You'll develop skills in using hand tools and power tools safely on site.
You'll understand how to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
You'll learn how to work safely and follow health and safety requirements on construction sites.
You'll practise measuring, marking out, and cutting timber accurately.
How you will learn
You'll learn through practical, hands-on sessions in a classroom and workshop environment. Assessment combines practical tasks, where you demonstrate carpentry skills directly, with knowledge-based tests. You'll be assessed on your ability to carry out first-fix and second-fix carpentry work to industry standards. Your progress will be reviewed throughout the course.
