What you will learn

  • You'll learn how to recognise signs of abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
  • You'll understand the Prevent duty and how to identify and respond to radicalisation concerns.
  • You'll explore British values and how they apply in education, care, and community settings.
  • You'll learn how to report safeguarding concerns and follow correct procedures.
  • You'll understand the roles of different agencies involved in safeguarding.

How you will learn

Classes are delivered in person at Hodge House Community Centre. Learning is classroom-based, with tutor-led sessions covering safeguarding, Prevent, and British values topics. Assessment is through written assignments or knowledge-based tasks completed during the course. You'll work through the material over 4 weeks of part-time daytime sessions.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. Hodge House Community Centre will confirm anything else you need before you start. Note that the entry requirements ask that you have access to a laptop, tablet, or PC, so you may need this for any work completed outside of class.
