About this course

Free Level 2 Performing Arts Course in Wigan. Classes run at Wigan and Leigh College, full-time during the day. The course is free if you're 16 to 18 years old. If you're 19 or over, fees may apply.

This performing arts qualification runs over 35 weeks. You'll develop skills across acting, dance, and production, building the range a working performer needs. The course prepares you for Level 3 study, which opens routes into university, specialist drama and dance schools, and stage careers. You'll need at least five GCSEs graded 3 or above, including maths or English, and you'll audition as part of the application.

You'll finish with a Pearson Edexcel Level 2 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts Industry Skills.

Who this course is for

Performing in front of a live audience requires skill, confidence, self-motivation and stamina. Our Level 2 Performing Arts course will equip you with the skills to develop as a rounded and versatile performer. On completion, you will be ready to move up to our Level 3 programmes, which will prepare you for a variety of progression opportunities, including university degrees, specialist dance and drama school training and stage careers in a range of settings, including touring theatre companies. There are many behind the scenes roles that you will explore and experience to provide you with the knowledge and confidence to work in this diverse industry. We have strong links with industry professionals who present masterclass workshops to provide a valuable insight into the performance and entertainment industries.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-3 including maths or English. You will need to successfully pass an audition.
