What you will learn
You'll identify the main health and safety laws that apply in UK workplaces.
You'll explain the responsibilities of employers and employees under health and safety legislation.
You'll recognise common workplace hazards and how to assess the risks they present.
You'll describe how to report accidents, incidents, and near misses correctly.
You'll understand how to use and store personal protective equipment safely.
You'll explain fire safety procedures and emergency evacuation requirements.
You'll identify how to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom-based sessions at Spectrum Community Health Centre. Teaching is delivered face to face, with group discussion and tutor-led activities. Assessment is through a written examination or knowledge-based assessment set by Highfield. Your tutor will prepare you for this during the course. Before you start, you'll attend a guidance session so the team can confirm the course is the right fit for you.
