You'll study fabrication and welding techniques alongside core engineering operations. The course takes around one year to complete. Units cover practical skills such as cutting, shaping, and joining metal, as well as health and safety and quality control. You'll need four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English Language, Maths, and Science.

You'll finish with a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations.

Alternatively, this programme could be your stepping-stone to the Royal Navy/Merchant Navy.Importantly, you will have the opportunity to take part in employability training and work experience, and have the option of gaining a RYA VHF course and First Aid qualification.
