This course will prepare you for higher level study at university in the UK. As well as improving your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, you will develop and extend your range of general and academic vocabulary and consolidate and extend your knowledge of grammar.
You will learn how to use academic language effectively and develop a variety of essential study skills such as critical thinking, academic referencing, delivery of presentations and note-taking in lectures. Your expert teachers will focus on helping you to improve your academic writing and teach you practical and effective techniques to understand and extract key information from long and complex reading texts.
You will learn how to conduct productive research and how to apply this information in your work. Your teachers will guide you through the preparation of a formal academic assignment and provide you with personalised support and feedback at each stage of your studies.
The class times are Monday to Friday from 09.15 to12.15, Monday and Tuesday afternoons from 12.45 to 15.45 and Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 13.45 to 14.45.
You should be over 16 years of age and have a recent IELTS certificate at B1 or above in all 4 components. Although placement is normally based on IELTS scores, students will be given an assessment on arrival in the UK so that we can accurately record your starting point and map out your learning journey.
