What you will learn

  • You'll learn how to assess an emergency situation and keep yourself and others safe.
  • You'll practise CPR and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).
  • You'll learn how to manage an unconscious casualty, including the recovery position.
  • You'll learn how to treat common injuries such as bleeding, burns, fractures, and choking.
  • You'll learn how to recognise and respond to sudden illness at work.
  • You'll understand how to record and report injuries and illnesses in line with RIDDOR.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom sessions at Resources North East, combining practical demonstrations with hands-on practice. Assessment includes a practical skills assessment and a short written or oral test. You'll be assessed on your ability to carry out first aid procedures correctly and safely.
