About this course

Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Course. Work-based training at your workplace. You train while working in a children's or early years setting, applying your learning directly with the children in your care. The course covers early years practice with children aged 0 to 7 years, with a focus on applied knowledge for the 0 to 5 age range. It suits those already working in a setting and those moving into one. This free early years practitioner course for adults leads to the NCFE Technical Occupational Entry for the Early Years Practitioner Diploma with certificate.

Who this course is for

This qualification is designed to meet the needs of individuals who work, or are seeking to work, across a broad range of early years and childcare settings. It covers the age range of 0-7 years.

What you will learn

  • You'll develop applied knowledge of early years practice for children aged 0 to 5 years.
  • You'll understand child development across the 0 to 7 age range.
  • You'll learn how to support children's learning and play in a childcare setting.
  • You'll explore safeguarding responsibilities and how to keep children safe.
  • You'll build knowledge of health, wellbeing, and care routines for young children.
  • You'll understand how to work with parents, carers, and colleagues in an early years environment.

How you will learn

Learning takes place in your workplace. You'll build a portfolio of evidence drawn from your day-to-day practice in your setting. Assessment is work-based, so your tasks and observations are tied to what you do in your role. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm that the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Qualification is the right level for you, and the centre will use it to plan your learning.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. ACL Essex will confirm anything else you need before you start.
