About this course

Free Level 2 Cyber Security Course. Study online. You work through the course at your own pace, with online workshops on Teams available if you want live support. The course covers how to stay secure online, protect data, and understand the threats that come with internet and social media use. It takes around 6 weeks to complete. This is a free cyber security course for adults living in England who meet the eligibility criteria. Note: the course is not currently funded for residents of certain combined authority areas, including Greater Manchester, West Midlands, and West Yorkshire.

A distance learning training course, accompanied by online workshops on Teams for those who would like to develop an understanding of cyber security, With an ever-increasing dependence on the internet, social media and all things digital, this course explores ways to maintain effective security in cyber space.

Entry requirements

Candidates must provide one of the following forms of identification: Valid in-date passport (any nationality) Signed in-date UK photocard driving licence UK biometric residence permit card Birth certificate (BUT, if a birth certificate is presented as proof of identification, an additional form of identification such as a signed bank card, utility bill or a letter issued by a government department must also be provided).

Assessment is based on the requirements of the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Cyber Security. South Essex College will confirm the specific assessment format when you enrol.

What you will need to bring

You'll need a valid form of photo ID to enrol. Accepted documents include a valid passport, a signed UK photocard driving licence, or a UK biometric residence permit card. If you use a birth certificate, you'll also need a second document such as a signed bank card, utility bill, or government letter. South Essex College will confirm anything else you need before you start.
