Free Level 2 Counselling Course in Basingstoke. Evening classes run at Basingstoke College of Technology, part-time over 30 weeks. This counselling qualification develops your understanding of helping interactions, from the opening stages through to endings. You'll build self-awareness and learn the core counselling skills used in supportive roles across health, education, and social care. The course suits anyone fitting study around work or other commitments. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm the level is right for you.
Who this course is for
This CPCAB qualification is for people who want to work in helping interactions or enhance their skills base for their current workplace, or for those to pursue further study as a counsellor. It will help to develop self-awareness and provide knowledge and understanding of the necessary counselling skills, leading to additional theory and practice. By the end of the course, learners will have gained an understanding of the beginnings, middle stages and endings of a helping interaction. They will also learn how to apply a repertoire of skills and how to work with silence, have a basic knowledge of the counselling models and develop confidence that their newfound skills can be applied effectively. This is a 30-week evening course, designed for those who may work by day and are interested in retraining to become a counsellor. The course is longer than the 18-week daytime course to account for the shorter lessons, i.e. 3 hours in the evening compared to 5 hours in the daytime. The content and number of guided learning hours of each course are, however, the same.
